Difficult Marriages

Elizabeth feels that there are disadvantages for the children of marriage like her father.

1. Discuss what disadvantages Elizabeth is talking about?
The disadvantages that Elizabeth is refering to includes the fact that as result of her parents not getting along with each other results in them having contrasting views about things in life like marriage. For instance, Mrs Bennet wanted Elizabeth to marry her cousin Collin but Mr Bennet did not approved of her declaration.
In addition, the girls was also forced into marrying men for their wealth and not for love. In the case pf Jane Mrs. Bennet was desperate for her daughter Jane to marry Mr. Bingley because he was a man of good fortune.

2. How are children affected by difficult marriages?

Children live what they learn. This statement demonstrates the fact that children are sensitive of the behaviours of society as well as thier parents. A difficult  marriage may affect a child emotionally because if the child comes from a home where there is chaos and hostility there is a huge possibiltty that that child may portrays what had been illustrated by the parents in the home. Furhermore, as the child grows older he or she might sees no alternative but to display that kind of behaviour at school, work etc simple because that was the norm and value that the parents potrays.

3. Is it acceptable today to stay in a relationship in a marriage because of the children?

I refute the claim that it is acceptable to stay in a marriage because sake of the children. The reason for this been a parent's unhappiness could have adverse effects on children's well being, much more than divorce could cause. A child that is a result of divorceced parents is likely to have a happy and fulfilling life and future because the parent will be able to give the child love and  care that he or she fully deserves without the discruption his or spouse. Thus, the child would be more confident and a more positive outlook on life because he or she sees the parent has a good role modle.
On the other hand,  parents who stay in an unstable relationship may have a negative effects on the child or children. During that relationship a child may suspects the tension that occurs between the parents althought they might try their very best of keeping it away from the child or children but as the child or children grows older they are more likely to understand the situation. As a result such children grow up to be adults who have a negative notion about love. They either find complexity in expressing their emotions to their beloved or they consider themselves unworthy of love. This might be so because they have grown up watching people who failed in leading a content and joyous life.

  1. "...the fact that as result of her parents not getting along with each other results..."; be careful in your word selection and grammar. Also, 'Collin' is not a character in the novel, however, Mr William Collins is. Questions two was answered very well, though, it could have been enhanced by examples from the novel. Likewise, question three was well answered and quite informative. Well done!
